Culture Studio CIC and Aik Saath worked on the 70th anniversary of the India/Pakistan partition. In 1947 the Partition of British India caused the largest forced migration in human history. The violence of this era, particularly impacted women due to the pervasiveness of ideas about izzat (honour) and gender-based violence.
Aik Saath and Culture Studio CIC worked together to support young people from Slough to interview women in Slough who lived in British India at the time of Partition. Their stories and memories were integrated into a community exhibition at The Curve in Slough and provided insights into the experiences of women during this tumultuous era.
